Going to seed

Since I only got three plants out of my pack of 500 shiso seeds, I haven't been picking the leaves off that often as you can't do that much with so few. And now - flowers!

So, I don't know what this means for the leaves, but maybe I'll get some seeds for next year. We'll see!

Thanks for sharing! I wonder if the seeds you had were too old to germinate properly. Here's hoping you get some viable ones out of these plants!

That was what otouto's gf said - it's not very common here, so they may have been old. Hers did much better though, she even made shiso pesto!

I can't thank you enough for the seeds. Sincerely hoping that they come back next year. If they do I might try them in a bigger pot. It's lovely stuff and if I decide to try doing tempura again the shiso is first on the list.

I did manage to get a few of them and chopped them up and put them in an omelette this morning! You could just about taste them.

Will try to pick some up in Japan - at least they should be not old...
